Presentation

Located in the Balearic archipelago, Port Mahon (officially Maó-Mahón since 2014) is the capital of the island of Menorca since 1721, when the English removed this title to the city of Ciutadella. Port Mahon has an impressive natural harbor, one of the widest in the world. It is one of the few natural deepwater ports that extends for several kilometers inland. Its location on the Mediterranean Sea, to the south-east of the island has made it a strategic fortress for many nations throughout history.

The ferry port of Mahon has been linked for years to the cities of Barcelona and Valencia on the Spanish mainland. You will have the choice between 9 weekly trips to Barcelona and Valencia, as well as to Palma on the island of Majorca. In summer, crossings can link Mahon to Ciutadella (also on the island of Menorca), to Alcudia in Mallorca and to Ibiza. On the port, before Moll de Ponent, the Museum of Menorca covers the archaeological past of the islands with a very beautiful collection. From the port, it is very easy to go for a boat trip or to visit the city. The historic capital of Mahon offers visitors a beautiful mix of ancient and modern architecture. Discover the pedestrian streets and the markets. In the evening, the city is very lively.
