Presentation

The port of Huelva is in Andalusia, in the extreme south-west of Spain, at the mouth of the Odiel River and the Tinto River. It is divided into two parts: the inner harbor, which is in the city, and the outer harbor, which is the main port. The ferry port of Huelva offers weekly direct links to the Canary Islands: Santa Cruz de Tenerife on the island of Tenerife, Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria and Arrecife on the island of Lanzarote. The duration of the crossings is 27:30 for Arrecife.

The city of Huelva is located near the Portuguese border, not far from the city of Faro. It has a historic center where it is pleasant to walk because a large part of the streets are pedestrian. Huelva has always been linked to the discovery and conquest of America. It is from the port of Palos de la Frontera in the region that, in August 1492, Christopher Columbus and his three caravels left. In the Plaza de las Monjas lined with palm trees stands the statue of the famous navigator. North of the city center is the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de la Cinta, a 15th century whitewashed chapel. Also to discover the cathedral of La Merced, adorned with a remarkable baroque facade.
