Located 6 km south of Ibiza Island, with which it forms all the Pityuses Islands within the Balearic archipelago, the island of Formentera is accessible only by boat. The Savina, is the only port for arrivals and departures by boat and is essential to the daily life of the island. This unique point of entry on the island has a modern passenger terminal, which looks like a small village where it is pleasant to walk around. It concentrates most of the tourist services such as hirers of vehicles and boats, tourist information, bars, restaurants, hotels and supermarkets.
The ferry port connects several times a day to Ibiza Island in half an hour, as well as the island of Majorca and mainland Spain (Denia and Gandia) several times a week. From La Savina boats are shuttling to the island of Espalmador. It is also possible to rent a boat to radiate around Formentera, this small island about 20 km long, known to be the last paradise of the Mediterranean, a peaceful place in the middle of crystal clear water. The secret of this limpid sea is the Mediterranean posidonia surrounding the island, a plant that naturally processes and cleans water. This true underwater jungle was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999.
