Présentation

The Port of Algiers, located in northern Algeria on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea has always played a fundamental role in the economic development of the country thanks to maritime transport which represents about 95% of Algerian international trade. Until 2009 the port of Algiers was managed by the state, but after the failure of the model of port management statist, it was adopted in 2006, a reform allowing private operators to take charge of commercial port activities. The Algiers Ferry Port offers seven crossings a week for Marseille in France and Alicante in Spain. Not far from the terminal, a fascinating 17th century Kasbah inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1992 is an architectural reference in the heart of the city with its narrow streets and Moorish art treasures. Also worth visiting are the Bardo Museum, some palaces and mausoleums, as well as the Jamaa al-Jdid and Ketchaoua mosques.
