The port of Alcudia is on the north-east coast of the island of Majorca, between two bays sheltering some of the most beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean. To reach the bay of Alcudia from Palma and its airport to the south of the island, it takes between 1h and 1h30 (about 52 km) by car. The modern port of Alcudia differs completely from the old town. Its modern architecture has nothing of the fishing village it once was. The Alcudia ferry port connects the island of Majorca with the Spanish mainland (Barcelona) with Menorca (Ciutadella), another Balearic island and with France (Toulon). There are up to 56 weekly crossings, ranging from 1 hour 30 minutes to Ciutadella and 10 hours 30 minutes to Barcelona.
The surroundings of Alcudia are full of beautiful family beaches but also virgin coves. To explore, S'Albufera Natural Park located along Alcudia Bay, consisting of dunes, pine forests and ponds sheltering a very rich fauna. The old town of Acudia is also worth a visit, with its charming narrow streets, surrounded by ramparts. It is pierced by beautiful ancient gateways: the Xara Gate and the Palma Gate. Not far from there, in Polentia, is a very well preserved Roman amphitheater and the Santa Anna church, one of the oldest on the island.
