Naviera Armas makes it possible to make the Canary Islands one of the European regions best served by ferries. Indeed, the company Naviera Armas offers a wide choice of maritime routes (25 routes!) Between the islands of Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Fuerteventura, La Gomera ... It offers many ferries (passengers and freight) between Portugal, the island of Madeira and the Canary Islands. The maritime link from Portugal to the island of Madeira is the first link between the island and the continent for more than 30 years. It's a whole new way of traveling and the ability to get there with a vehicle.

Naviera Armas was founded in 1941 by Antonio Armas Curbelo, from Lanzarote. He started his business carrying salt with wooden hull boats and sailboats. Armas Curbelo then incorporates steel-driven, diesel-powered and steam-powered ships with which he extends his business beyond island boundaries, gaining importance in the former province of Spanish Sahara.

The next generation is Antonio Armas Fernández, who is currently president of the company and knows the latest trends in the sector. He is responsible for the introduction of the first car transport vessels in the Canary Islands. This stage begins in 1975, with the acquisition of two smaller boats: Yaiza Volcano and Tahitian Volcano. Beginning in 1995, a significant shift in the company's strategy is reflected in its introduction to the cargo and passenger market. It then incorporates new ferries built in Vigo: Volcano Tauce and Volcano Tejeda.

As the largest shipping company in the Canaries, it now has more than fifty ships.
